Job Description

Protect the Future of AI-Powered Customer Experience at Decagon

Decagon is revolutionizing customer experience with conversational AI, empowering brands to deliver exceptional, human-like support across all channels. We're partnering with industry leaders like Hertz, Eventbrite, and Duolingo to redefine customer interaction at scale, and we're backed by top investors like Bain Capital Ventures and a16z.

Join our elite Security team and play a crucial role in safeguarding our AI agents, which handle millions of real customer interactions every day. You'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge detection systems to identify and neutralize threats without disrupting the natural flow of conversation that makes our AI agents so effective. This is your chance to build an industry-leading Detection and Response (DNR) capability within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

As a key member of our Security team, you will focus on data pipelines, LLM-powered detection query writing, and the automated "Watchtower" components of our security stack. You'll work with leading security data vendors and own the development of innovative security solutions.

What You'll Do:
Collaborate with engineering to build low-latency systems that detect prompt injection, jailbreak attempts, and social engineering attacks against customer experience agents, all without impacting conversation speed.
Develop ML models that identify surprising or unexpected access patterns within the product environment.
Create an incident response system capable of analyzing past interactions to reconstruct events, identify accessed data, and trace potential information leakage.
Build APIs and webhooks that enable enterprise customers to integrate our security insights into their existing SOC and incident response workflows.
Continuously research and model new threat patterns specific to customer service AI, including account takeover attempts and information extraction attacks.

What You'll Bring:
4+ years of experience building production security or data pipeline systems.
Advanced proficiency in Python, with experience in data pipelines, automation tooling, and code review for production web applications.
A proven track record of building detection systems that effectively balance security with user experience.
Experience with real-time data processing using Kafka, Pulsar, or similar systems for analyzing data streams.
Prior experience with security tools such as Splunk, Panther, RunReveal, or similar platforms.
Experience with anomaly detection, sequence modeling, and statistical analysis of user behavior patterns.
Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and other enterprise security requirements.

Bonus Points:
Proven experience leveraging LLMs or AI tooling to enhance efficiency and security.
A strong understanding of customer service workflows and the business impact of security measures.
A passion for leveraging advanced reasoning and software development tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Gemini to improve personal productivity and design effectiveness.
