The Opportunity: IT Systems & Security Engineer (Onsite in Overland Park, KS)
We're searching for a highly motivated and skilled **IT Systems & Security Engineer** to become a cornerstone of our dynamic team. This pivotal, hands-on role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in systems administration and an insatiable drive to specialize in advanced cybersecurity engineering.
You will be at the heart of safeguarding TENEX's entire IT infrastructure and digital assets, including those of our valued customers. This isn't just about maintenance; it's about **designing, implementing, and optimizing cutting-edge security controls** and **building robust system and security capabilities from scratch**. You'll ensure seamless IT operations while proactively hardening our defenses against an ever-evolving threat landscape through intelligent automation and best-in-class engineering practices.
This critical position demands a blend of expertise across cloud and identity administration, advanced cybersecurity engineering, and the hands-on maintenance of physical networking and security systems. **This role requires your presence onsite in our Overland Park, KS office.**
What You'll Be Building & Securing:
IT & Infrastructure Mastery:
Core Focus: Administer, monitor, and optimize our critical IT systems, identity platforms, and cloud environments, primarily within GCP and Google Workspace. Provide expert-level support that keeps our operations running flawlessly.
Key Technologies: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Workspace, Google Identity.
Physical Security & Networking Architecture:
Core Focus: Act as the go-to expert for network design, installation, and physical security infrastructure (doors, cameras). You'll ensure our physical perimeter is as robust as our digital one.
Key Technologies: Ubiquiti UniFi Platform (all systems), Network Cabling, Small-Scale Network Design.
Advanced Security Engineering:
Core Focus: Design, implement, and maintain advanced security tools including Firewalls, EDR, SIEM, ZTNA, and MFA solutions. Lead comprehensive system hardening initiatives, conduct gap assessments, and rigorously enforce security policies.
Key Technologies: EDR (e.g., SentinelOne), SIEM (e.g., SecOps), ZTNA, Firewall Management.
Pioneering Security Automation:
Core Focus: Champion "security-as-code" principles. Leverage APIs and scripting to build sophisticated automation for security orchestration, alert enrichment, and rapid incident response workflows.
Key Technologies: Python/PowerShell Scripting, API Integration, Automation/Orchestration platforms.
What You Bring:
Experience: Minimum **3+ years** in IT administration, with at least **1 year** specifically focused on cybersecurity operations or engineering.
Cloud & Identity Prowess: Expert-level proficiency in **Google Workspace, GCP**, and comprehensive **identity management** solutions.
Security Tools Expertise: Hands-on experience configuring, deploying, and managing **ZTNA, EDR, SIEM** platforms, coupled with a deep understanding of network security concepts.
Automation Mindset: Strong scripting skills in **Python and/or PowerShell** for API integration and automating complex security/IT workflows.
Infrastructure Foundation: Comprehensive experience with the **Ubiquiti UniFi platform** and practical ability to perform physical network wiring installations.

Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms.
