Job Description

Senior Security Enginee

Canals builds the critical software that powers the real economy. We empower wholesale distributors – the essential backbone of global supply chains for everything from electrical components to HVAC systems and roofing materials – to operate with unprecedented efficiency through advanced automation and AI.

Every day, thousands of businesses rely on Canals to process orders, manage purchasing, handle accounts payable, and streamline their most vital operational workflows. We are a profitable, rapidly growing company with a dynamic team of roughly 100 individuals distributed across North and South America. We are deeply committed to building exceptional products, fostering an environment where talented individuals can achieve their best work, and hiring truly outstanding people.

The Mission: Secure the Real Economy

As our customer base and platform scale rapidly, the security surface of our mission-critical systems grows in complexity and criticality. We are looking for a visionary Senior Security Engineer who can move quickly, think system-wide, and decisively elevate the security bar across our entire product and infrastructure ecosystem.

This role is about owning security outcomes, not just identifying vulnerabilities. You will be at the forefront, proactively identifying high-impact risks and leading their remediation end-to-end. You’ll have the autonomy to shape our security strategy, implement cutting-edge solutions, and remain deeply hands-on with the systems that power vital supply chains.

What You'll Do

Identify the highest-impact security risks and lead their remediation across teams, from inception to resolution.
Own and continuously evolve application security tooling for code quality, dependency management, and secrets protection within our CI/CD pipelines.
Lead comprehensive threat modeling, risk assessments, and architecture reviews for all new and existing services.
Validate, triage, and drive the resolution of findings from bug bounty programs and external penetration tests.
Oversee and enhance our security monitoring and incident response capabilities, managing alerts, investigations, and follow-through to ensure robust defense.

What We're Looking Fo

A strong security engineering background with extensive hands-on experience securing complex production systems at scale.
Proven ability to drive cross-functional remediation efforts, providing clear priorities and consistent follow-up to ensure successful outcomes.
Comfort and experience taking full ownership of deliverables, ensuring projects are executed to the highest standards.
Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, product-focused, remote-first environment.
Demonstrable experience integrating robust security practices into CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
Previous experience in high-growth startups or small, agile teams is a significant plus.

Why Join Canals?

You'll be part of a team building software that is truly essential to the global economy. Your work will directly impact the daily operations of businesses that keep the world running, offering a unique opportunity to solve real-world problems with tangible, far-reaching impact.

We've achieved strong product-market fit and are growing rapidly, creating unparalleled opportunities for individuals who want to shape the trajectory of a company and make a meaningful impact from day one.

We believe that great people build great companies. That's why we invest heavily in hiring exceptional talent, fostering continuous development, and creating an environment where ambitious individuals can do the best work of their careers.

You'll collaborate with ambitious, thoughtful teammates who care deeply about what they do, challenge each other directly, and have a lot of fun along the way. Our culture champions ownership, transparency, and relentless improvement. Good ideas are welcomed from all corners, and people are trusted to innovate and make things happen.

We are a remote-first, flexible company distributed across North and South America, bringing together talented people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to solve complex challenges.
