What You'll Do
As a Security Engineer, you will be a key player in protecting OpenAI's innovations. You'll be involved in a wide range of security challenges, with a primary focus on Detection & Response. You'll also contribute as a strong generalist across the entire Security team.
Drive projects across major security verticals: AppSec, InfraSec, OffSec, and Detection & Response.
Innovate to solve novel security problems unique to the world of advanced AI.
Collaborate on cutting-edge AI research, using AI to enhance OpenAI's security posture.
Innovate on Detection and Response infrastructure, building scalable and robust systems.
Build tools for managing the entire lifecycle of detection rules, from creation to deployment and maintenance.
Develop, measure, and tune detection rules to ensure effective and sustainable security operations.
Automate manual response processes to improve efficiency and reduce response times.
Ensure visibility and control of OpenAI's endpoint fleet (macOS, Windows) through effective monitoring and management.
Drive improvements across identity access and management (IAM), device management, productivity software, and our use of public cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure).
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is passionate about security, eager to learn, and ready to tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in Security or a Security-adjacent field.
Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or other cloud infrastructure platforms.
Knowledge of modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Proficiency with a scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
Ability to empathize and collaborate with colleagues, independently manage and run projects, and prioritize efforts for risk reduction.
Location & Work Model
This role can be based in San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, or New York City, NY. We operate on a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available for new employees.
