The Opportunity
As an Application Security Engineer, you'll be on the front lines, identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities within our cutting-edge software applications. You'll build security tools, conduct in-depth code reviews, perform penetration testing, and execute thorough security assessments. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring secure coding practices are integrated throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), preventing security risks before they even emerge.
We're looking for a passionate security professional who can collaborate effectively with development teams, providing expert security guidance and fostering a culture of security awareness across the organization.
This role is ideally based in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City, but remote work arrangements may be considered. We operate on a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance for new employees.
What You'll Do:
Security Assessments: Conduct comprehensive security assessments, meticulous code reviews, and targeted penetration testing to uncover vulnerabilities in applications and software.
Security Tool Development: Design, develop, and implement innovative security tools, robust frameworks, and effective methodologies to safeguard applications against evolving security threats.
Collaboration with Development Teams: Partner closely with development teams to seamlessly integrate security best practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), including the establishment of secure coding guidelines.
Threat Modeling and Risk Assessment: Perform detailed threat modeling and rigorous risk assessments to proactively identify potential vulnerabilities and devise effective mitigation strategies.
Vulnerability Management: Systematically track, thoroughly analyze, and efficiently manage vulnerabilities in applications, providing expert guidance and comprehensive support for remediation efforts.
Incident Response: Assist in investigating, analyzing, and responding to security incidents affecting applications, ensuring swift resolution and meticulous documentation of all incidents.
Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously stay informed about the latest security threats, emerging vulnerabilities, and cutting-edge technologies to continuously enhance security measures in applications.
What You'll Bring:
Solid experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related field.
Deep understanding of security technologies, tools, and best practices, including secure coding practices, threat modeling, risk assessments, and incident response.
Proven experience in application security, software development, or related areas with a strong understanding of secure coding practices and application security frameworks.
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++), knowledge of security tools (e.g., Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP), and familiarity with security protocols and encryption methods.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex security issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
