Job Description

AI Red Team Expert (Freelance) - Secure the Future of Language AI

Ready to put your cybersecurity skills to the test against cutting-edge AI? LILT is revolutionizing how the world communicates using AI, and we need your expertise to ensure our systems are robust and secure. As a freelance AI Red Team Expert, you'll be on the front lines, proactively identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities in our language models and AI-powered translation platform. Help us make information accessible to everyone, securely.

The Mission:

As an integral part of our AI safety team, you will:

Conduct adversarial testing on a variety of AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs), multimodal models, inference services, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and product integrations.
Craft creative prompts and scenarios designed to expose weaknesses and bypass model guardrails.
Systematically document testing outcomes and collaborate with engineers and safety researchers to improve system defenses.
Think like an attacker to uncover potential vulnerabilities, providing actionable insights to strengthen our security posture.

What You'll Need:

We are seeking individuals with a passion for cybersecurity and a deep understanding of AI. Specifically, we're looking for:

Key Skills:

Generative AI Expertise: Deep understanding of generative AI models, including LLMs, their architectures, training processes (including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback - RLHF), and potential failure modes.
Cybersecurity & Threat Modeling: Proven experience in cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing. Ability to identify attack vectors, simulate real-world threats, and understand the potential impact of an attack.
Data Analysis & NLP: Strong analytical skills to dissect model outputs, identify biases or factual errors, and recognize patterns in model responses. A background in Natural Language Processing (NLP) is highly desirable.
Ethical Hacking Mindset: A commitment to using your skills for defensive and security-focused purposes, adhering to a strict ethical code, and understanding the importance of responsible disclosure.

Core

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, or related field.
  • Language: Advanced English proficiency (C1 or above).
  • Mindset: Adversarial thinking and a passion for finding vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of common model vulnerabilities, including prompt injection, prompt-history leakage, and data exfiltration via RAG.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience in AI/ML security, evaluation, and red teaming, particularly with LLMs, AI agents, and RAG pipelines.
  • Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new methods, quickly switch between tasks, and work with complex guidelines.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Tools: Familiarity with AI red-teaming frameworks such as garak or PyRIT.
  • Bonus Points (Preferred Requirements):
  • Physical-world adversarial testing experience.
  • Experience with containerization and CI/CD security tools (especially Docker).
  • Proficiency in offensive exploitation and exploit development.
  • Skilled in reverse engineering using tools like Ghidra or equivalents.
  • Expertise in network and application security, including web application security.
  • Knowledge of operating system security concepts (Linux privilege escalation, Windows internals).
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices for full-stack development.
  • Why LILT?
  • Competitive Pay: Earn up to $55/hour based on your skills, experience, and project scope.
  • Flexibility: Part-time, remote, freelance work that fits around your existing commitments.
