Become an AI Red Team Expert at LILT
Do you thrive on finding vulnerabilities and breaking things? Are you passionate about the security of AI systems?
LILT is seeking skilled and motivated freelance AI Red Team experts to help us fortify our AI systems against emerging threats. This is your chance to get hands-on with cutting-edge AI, work alongside top engineers and safety researchers, and make a real impact on the future of secure AI.
At LILT, we're on a mission to make the world's information accessible to everyone using the power of AI. We’re trusted by industry leaders like Intel, Canva, the United States Department of Defense, and ASICS to deliver accurate, efficient, and secure translations.
The Mission
As an AI Red Team expert, you'll be responsible for:
Adversarial Testing: Crafting prompts and scenarios to rigorously test the guardrails of our AI systems, including LLMs, multimodal models, inference services, RAG/embeddings, and product integrations.
Vulnerability Discovery: Thinking like an attacker to identify weaknesses and creative ways to bypass restrictions.
Systematic Documentation: Thoroughly documenting your findings and collaborating with engineers and safety researchers to improve system defenses.
Threat Modeling: Simulating real-world threats to identify potential attack vectors and assess the impact of successful attacks.
Essential Skills
We're looking for candidates with:
Generative AI Expertise: A deep understanding of generative AI models, their architectures, training processes (including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and RLHF), and potential failure modes.
Cybersecurity Foundation: Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing.
Analytical Prowess: Excellent analytical skills to dissect model outputs, identify biases or errors, and recognize patterns in model behavior. A background in NLP is a plus.
Ethical Hacking Mindset: A commitment to ethical hacking practices, responsible disclosure, and using your skills for defensive purposes.
Technical Proficiency:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, or a related field.
Advanced English proficiency (C1 or above).
Solid knowledge of common model vulnerabilities (prompt injection, prompt-history leakage, data exfiltration via RAG).
Hands-on experience in AI/ML security, evaluation, and red teaming, particularly with LLMs, AI agents, and RAG pipelines.
Scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Familiarity with AI red-teaming frameworks such as garak or PyRIT.
Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new methods, switch between tasks quickly, and work with complex guidelines.
Bonus Points
Experience in any of the following areas will give you a competitive edge:
Physical-world adversarial testing
Containerization and CI/CD security tools (especially Docker)
Offensive exploitation and exploit development
Reverse engineering (using tools like Ghidra)
Network and application security, including web application security
Operating system security concepts (Linux privilege escalation, Windows internals)
Secure coding practices for full-stack development

About LILT: Our Story
Our founders, Spence and John, met at Google working on Google Translate. As researchers at Stanford and Berkeley, they both worked on language technology to make information accessible to everyone. While together at Google, they were amazed to learn that Google Translate wasn’t used for enterprise products and services inside the company. The quality just wasn’t there. So they set out to build something better. LILT was born.
LILT has been a machine learning company since its founding in 2015. At the time, machine translation didn’t meet the quality standard for enterprise translations, so LILT assembled a cutting-edge research team tasked with closing that gap. While meeting customer demand for translation services, LILT has prioritized investments in Large Language Models, human-in-the-loop systems, and now agentic AI.
With AI innovation accelerating and enterprise demand growing, the next phase of LILT’s journey is just beginning.
Our Tech
What sets our platform apart:
Brand-aware AI that learns your voice, tone, and terminology to ensure every translation is accurate and consistent
Agentic AI workflows that automate the entire translation process from content ingestion to quality review to publishing
100+ native integrations with systems like Adobe Experience Manager, Webflow, Salesforce, GitHub, and Google Drive to simplify content translation
Human-in-the-loop reviews via our global network of professional linguists, for high-impact content that requires expert review
