The Opportunity: Senior Security Operations Engineer
Are you a seasoned security engineer with a passion for hardening cloud environments and automating controls at scale? Do you thrive on solving complex security challenges and empowering developers to build securely by default? Cohere is seeking a Senior Security Operations Engineer to be a pivotal force in protecting our cutting-edge AI infrastructure and ensuring the integrity of our mission. You'll be instrumental in securing our multi-cloud ecosystem, driving proactive defense strategies, and responding to emerging threats in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

What You'll Do:

Act as a trusted security advisor, clearly articulating business risks to leadership and partner teams, driving informed decision-making.
Lead the hardening of our cloud-native environments (AWS, OCI, GCP) by integrating "secure by default" designs and features into our networks, tooling, and processes.
Empower engineers to design, build, and utilize infrastructure securely at scale by developing and deploying secure architectures via infrastructure-as-code and reusable code libraries.
Manage and optimize IAM / RBAC for our cloud infrastructure, collaborating with IT to streamline authentication/authorization for unified access control.
Deploy, configure, and operationalize critical security services and tools, including SIEM, SOAR, domain monitoring, endpoint tooling, and advanced cloud security platforms.
Lead incident response efforts, investigating security incidents, containing threats, and implementing robust post-incident hardening measures.
Support and drive control monitoring and remediation efforts for various compliance initiatives.
Gather and analyze comprehensive security metrics to identify and address security issues with cross-team dependencies.
Be an empathetic problem solver, understanding developer concerns and employing constructive, flexible approaches to build innovative security solutions.

What You'll Bring:
Essential Experience & Skills:

5+ years of hands-on experience in SecOps, DevSecOps, Cloud Security, Threat Detection & Response, or software development with a strong focus on security tool onboarding and optimization.
Demonstrated expertise in automating security controls and processes.
Proven experience managing and securing multi-cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, OCI) and Kubernetes environments.
Strong familiarity with CI/CD systems and SecOps workflows (Git, Terraform) in cloud environments.
Deep understanding and experience with one or more of the following: infrastructure automation, network segmentation, system hardening, container and cloud security concepts, and security observability.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Golang and/or Python.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, make informed decisions with limited data, and adapt quickly to evolving challenges.
A flexible and constructive approach to problem-solving, with a knack for making pragmatic trade-offs between building custom solutions versus leveraging existing tools.
Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex security problem statements and proposing solutions to both highly technical and non-technical audiences.

If some of the above doesn’t perfectly align with your experience, we still encourage you to apply! We believe in diverse backgrounds and the power of growth.
