The Opportunity: Pioneer Product Security
This is a pivotal, greenfield opportunity for Tempo’s very first dedicated Product Security Engineer. You will not only define but also stand up our entire application and infrastructure security posture from the ground floor. This role offers unparalleled impact: you’ll be building real tooling, leading critical incident responses, and collaborating directly with our engineering teams to secure the systems that onboard the largest enterprises onto our blockchain. If you thrive on autonomy, enjoy designing robust security frameworks from scratch, and want to protect a platform poised to redefine global payments, this is your chance.
What You'll Do
Architect and implement robust security tooling across endpoint management, supply-chain security, infrastructure, and application layers.
Proactively identify and robustly remediate security gaps across Tempo's production systems and development pipelines.
Drive end-to-end incident response, from initial triage and containment to remediation and detailed post-mortems.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams on secure design reviews and critical operational security decisions.
Define and embed best-in-class, repeatable security practices for how all systems are built, deployed, monitored, and secured.
Fortify our supply-chain security across dependencies, build systems, and deployment artifacts.
Strategically scale application security coverage as Tempo's infrastructure and product surface rapidly grow.
Thrive in an autonomous environment, building what's needed without relying on extensive pre-existing support structures.
What You'll Bring
5–8 years of hands-on, impactful product or application security engineering experience.
Proven track record of establishing security practices from scratch or in nascent environments (e.g., companies with 100-500 employees or similar limited existing security infrastructure).
Exceptional hands-on coding ability, demonstrated by a history of building robust security tooling, automation, and detection mechanisms (beyond just recommendations).
Extensive, hands-on incident response expertise, particularly with high-severity scenarios managed from triage to post-mortem.
Profound understanding of infrastructure security, encompassing hosting environments, network security, comprehensive monitoring, and securing complex system integrations.
Mastery of application security fundamentals: threat modeling, secure code review, vulnerability management, and supply-chain security.
Superb communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical security decisions with depth and specificity to engineering teams.
