Job Description

Infrastructure Security Lead: Build & Scale Security for an AI-Native Automation Platform

Serval is not just another tech company; we're pioneering the future of enterprise operations with our AI-native automation platform. We build intelligent agents that don't just respond, but reason, act, and continuously improve, transforming manual processes into adaptive, learning software. Founded in early 2024, we're already trusted by industry leaders like Fox, Notion, Perplexity, Vercel, and Brex to automate critical, high-friction operational work.

At the heart of Serval is a cutting-edge agentic AI platform that translates natural language into production-grade workflows. From IT and HR to Finance, Security, Legal, and Engineering, our horizontal AI automation layer is rapidly becoming the universal operational backbone for modern enterprises. Our mission is clear: eliminate repetitive manual work, empower teams with intelligent leverage, and build the ultimate AI operations layer that seamlessly runs the workflows keeping companies moving.

We're backed by a formidable roster of leading investors, including Sequoia Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Meritech, First Round, General Catalyst, and Elad Gil, signaling our significant potential and impact.

Your Mission: Architect & Defend Serval's Foundation

As our Infrastructure Security Lead, you'll be a founding architect and hands-on leader, defining and scaling the bedrock of how Serval secures its most critical assets. This isn't about bolting on controls; it's about embedding security as an intrinsic property of our cloud, compute, and platform infrastructure from day one. You'll own the strategy and execution for fortifying our AWS environments, Kubernetes clusters, container runtimes, and the multi-tenant production systems our customers rely on.

With deep technical credibility and sharp engineering instincts, you'll not only build but also mentor a high-performing team. Partnering closely with Engineering and Product, you’ll ensure that secure-by-default infrastructure, least-privilege access, and robust isolation boundaries are meticulously engineered into every system powering Serval’s innovative platform.

What You'll Architect & Implement

Design, implement, and continuously mature Serval's comprehensive infrastructure security program across AWS, Kubernetes, container runtimes, networking, and CI/CD. This includes rigorous hardening, configuration baselines, workload isolation, and proactive posture management.
Take full ownership of cloud and identity security, driving best practices for least-privilege IAM, secure secrets management, key management, intelligent network segmentation, and the robust guardrails essential for our multi-tenant production environment at scale.
Secure our container and orchestration stack end-to-end: from image provenance and software supply-chain integrity to registry and admission controls, runtime sandboxing and isolation, and stringent Kubernetes hardening (RBAC, network policies, pod security). You’ll pay particular attention to the isolated workers executing sensitive customer workflows.
Build, lead, and directly mentor a specialized team spanning cloud security, platform/Kubernetes security, and infrastructure vulnerability management. You’ll strategically hire and scale these critical functions in alignment with Serval's platform and customer growth.
Champion infrastructure vulnerability management and remediation, collaborating with engineering teams to swiftly identify, prioritize, and durably close exposure across cloud configurations, dependencies, base images, and the entire software supply chain.
Embed security by design into our platform. You'll partner deeply across Engineering, Product, and Infrastructure teams to ensure that secure defaults, "paved roads," and policy-as-code are the intuitive, easiest path for engineers, not an afterthought.
Innovate defensive strategies by leveraging Serval’s own agentic AI capabilities to tackle frontier infrastructure-security and security-engineering challenges, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in securing complex systems against sophisticated adversaries.

Your Expertise & Toolkit

10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with deep, hands-on expertise in cloud security, infrastructure security engineering, and production hardening.
Proven mastery of AWS, Kubernetes, container runtimes (e.g., gVisor/Firecracker-style isolation), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
Extensive experience building, leading, and mentoring high-performing infrastructure/cloud security, platform security, and vulnerability management teams.
Stellar leadership skills and a demonstrated history of driving durable, continuous improvements to security programs, processes, and people.
Strong software-engineering instincts: you are comfortable reading and writing code, building tooling and automation, and shipping policy-as-code and secure-by-default paved roads alongside engineering teams.
Deep expertise in cloud and identity security primitives, including IAM, secrets and key management, network segmentation, workload isolation, and multi-tenant boundary design.
A profound understanding of modern adversary tradecraft (TTPs) against cloud and container infrastructure, with demonstrated experience translating this knowledge into practical hardening, isolation, and remediation strategies.
You are mission-oriented, possess unimpeachable integrity, and are passionate about building resilient, defensible infrastructure in a highly complex, fast-paced, and innovative environment.
