Resend is experiencing explosive growth, empowering over 4 million developers with our modern email sending platform. As we scale, the security of our platform becomes paramount. We're looking for our very first dedicated Security Engineer to join our Platform Squad and embed a security-first mindset into every layer of our infrastructure.
This is a unique opportunity to define and build the security posture of a rapidly evolving developer platform from the ground up. You’ll work alongside a lean, highly technical team focused on the internal platform and reliability foundations that enable Resend teams to build, deploy, observe, and operate services safely.
This role is fully remote, welcoming candidates based in Americas or European timezones. Expect some travel for team offsites, conferences, and meetups.

Your Impact at Resend: Architect and enhance the core security foundations of Resend’s platform, including critical components like API keys, service permissions, secrets management, robust tenant isolation, comprehensive audit logs, and internal access controls. Proactively design and implement secure defaults for new services, workers, queues, databases, internal tools, and deployment pipelines, ensuring security is baked in, not bolted on.
Elevate our detection and response capabilities for security incidents, covering suspicious access patterns, leaked credentials, abnormal sending behavior, privilege changes, and other sensitive system events.
Refine and automate our security processes and pipelines, embedding security best practices seamlessly into our engineering workflows.
You are the driving force in raising the security bar across the entire organization.
Proficiency in writing code and comfort in reviewing application, infrastructure, and deployment code to identify security vulnerabilities.
Deep understanding of core security principles: authentication, authorization, secrets management, IAM, logging, audit trails, incident response, and building secure deployment pipelines.
The ability to independently prioritize, strategize, and execute your day-to-day responsibilities as our pioneering security hire.
A pragmatic approach, preferring practical, impactful improvements over rigid, heavy processes.

A strong commitment to developer experience, believing that robust security should be intuitive and easy to adopt.
Expertise securing cloud infrastructure utilizing tools like AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Cloudflare, or similar systems.
Experience with open source security, GitHub organization hardening, package publishing, dependency review, or supply-chain security.
A track record of preparing companies for certifications like SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, enterprise security reviews, or optimizing customer trust processes without burdening engineering teams with excessive compliance overhead.
Experience building security observability platforms, advanced alerting, detection pipelines, or incident response workflows from scratch.
Collaboration experience with Trust & Safety, anti-abuse, fraud, or platform integrity teams.
Proven ability to design and implement security systems for high-scale developer products.
