Senior Cloud Security Enginee
Pioneering the future of engineering and scientific discovery with intelligent automation, AI, and a massive R&D network, Rescale is tackling challenges traditional HPC can't. But innovation at this scale demands uncompromising security.
We're searching for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to be a guardian of our cutting-edge cloud infrastructure, identity systems, and internal tooling. This is a highly hands-on role where you'll directly shape the security posture across AWS, Okta, GitHub Enterprise, and the ever-evolving landscape of AI-assisted tools.
If you're passionate about diving deep into Terraform, meticulously querying logs, designing robust IAM policies, and not just reviewing but building the security foundation for groundbreaking technology, you belong with us.
About Rescale
Rescale isn't just a company; it's a launchpad for discovery. We lead the charge in digital engineering, empowering industries from aerospace to life sciences to innovate faster through intelligent automation, advanced AI, and the world's largest network of R&D applications. Our mission is to solve complex, high-impact challenges that traditional High-Performance Computing (HPC) can't touch. Joining us means contributing to a diverse, collaborative team that's building the next wave of breakthroughs, where your security expertise directly enables world-changing innovation.
The Impact You'll Make & What You'll Do
As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, you will:
Architect, implement, and fortify our critical cloud infrastructure and identity systems, ensuring resilience and defense-in-depth.
Develop and maintain robust security automation and detection pipelines to proactively identify and mitigate threats.
Be at the forefront of AI security: evaluate, implement controls for, and secure our evolving suite of AI-assisted and agentic internal tools (e.g., Claude Code, MCP servers, LLM-driven automation).
Lead incident response for security findings, including in-depth investigation of authentication anomalies, comprehensive access log reviews, and data analysis using tools like Athena, CloudTrail Lake, and Superset.
Drive security by contributing significantly to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for defining security controls, managing identity provisioning, and ensuring compliance-relevant configuration and monitoring.
Collaborate with engineering and customer-facing teams to design and ensure secure network and cloud deployments for our enterprise customer environments.
Stay ahead of the curve: research emerging cloud-native and AI security capabilities (including advanced AI-enabled attack techniques) and translate cutting-edge findings into actionable controls and internal best practices.
Elevate our security posture through clear documentation, crafting comprehensive runbooks and playbooks to scale security practices and knowledge across the organization.
What You'll Bring & Your Expertise
We're looking for a security expert with:
5+ years of hands-on experience specifically in cloud-native security or DevSecOps roles.
Proficiency in scripting and automation with 3+ years of experience in Bash or Python.
Deep, practical expertise with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI).
Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform is a strong plus) and robust identity/access management platforms (e.g., Okta, Azure AD).
Demonstrated exposure to at least one of the following specialized areas: OAuth/token architecture, security for AI/LLM-assisted tooling, or agentic workflow design.
A strong foundation in operating systems and networking fundamentals.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates your capability – we value experience over degrees.
