Your Mission as Orb's First Dedicated Security Enginee
This isn't just a role; it's a mission to establish and own the hands-on technical security of a platform trusted with our customers' most sensitive asset: their revenue. Billing is the heartbeat of our customers' businesses, and as we scale rapidly and lean heavily into AI-assisted development, securing our infrastructure, codebase, and deployment pipelines has become a critical, full-time endeavor.
You will be instrumental in defining and making the secure path the default across our AWS environment and our codebase, working closely with our engineering leadership and strategically partnering with Adyen's world-class security organization.
In this pivotal role, you will: Architect Security: Own and drive application and infrastructure security across our AWS environment—from threat-modeling new systems and reviewing designs/code to proactively identifying and remediating vulnerabilities. Master IAM: Redefine identity and access management (IAM), ensuring robust least-privilege principles and auditable access for engineers and AI agents to production systems.
Set the Standard: Establish the definitive security baseline for the entire engineering organization, transforming one-off fixes into durable, automated controls that inherently guide secure development.
Embed Security in DevOps: Integrate robust security practices directly into our CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling, partnering with the platform team to build security from the ground up.
Pioneer AI Security: Shape how AI coding agents operate safely against real systems, tackling one of the industry's most compelling and cutting-edge security problems.
Strategic Collaboration: Partner closely with Adyen's security organization, leveraging their scale, best practices, and resources to accelerate Orb's security maturity.
You possess a strong hands-on background securing cloud-native systems (AWS preferred), coupled with comfort in reading and writing code.
You demonstrate depth across several key security domains, including: application and product security, IAM and access management, vulnerability management, and detection and response.
Your approach to security is inherently structural—you default to solving problems at their root, making the safe path the default rather than adding cumbersome processes.
You thrive in an autonomous environment, eager to establish and lead our security function as our first dedicated hire.
