Job Description

Product Marketing Manager, Cybersecurity

About the Mission & the Marketing Team
At OpenAI, our mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. Every team contributes to this profound goal, including Marketing. We are the architects of awareness, engagement, and widespread adoption for OpenAI’s groundbreaking products and platform. Beyond just features, we focus on empowering users with valuable insights and resources to harness the full potential of AI technologies responsibly.

About the Role: Shape the Future of Cyber Defense with AI
This is a pivotal opportunity to define how OpenAI brings frontier AI directly to cyber defenders. As our Product Marketing Manager, Cybersecurity, you'll be at the heart of Daybreak – OpenAI’s strategic initiative to revolutionize cybersecurity. Your work will help defenders detect risk earlier, act decisively, and engineer inherently resilient software.
You will be the voice shaping the market narrative, building our field-facing operating system, and orchestrating cross-functional execution. This includes critical product launches, compelling customer proof, strategic partner moments, impactful events, and targeted account-based campaigns. You will empower senior security leaders to understand how OpenAI models, Trusted Access for Cyber, Codex Security, and related workflows can fundamentally transform real-world defensive operations.
We're seeking a visionary product marketer who seamlessly blends strategic narrative, deep technical curiosity, enterprise Go-To-Market (GTM) acumen, and robust program leadership. If you can translate fast-moving AI capabilities into clear, compelling positioning, credible assets, and practical field execution, you belong with us.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We operate on a hybrid model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this Role, You Will Drive Impact By:

Owning the positioning and messaging for OpenAI’s entire cybersecurity offering, including Daybreak, Trusted Access for Cyber, Codex Security, and all related product surfaces.
Building comprehensive, field-ready assets for diverse audiences – from account directors and solution engineers to security leaders and executive decision-makers. This includes first-call decks, one-pagers, use-case libraries, compelling customer stories, and robust proof-point packages.
Translating complex frontier model capabilities and intricate security concepts into simple, accurate, and defensible GTM language tailored for senior enterprise buyers and security practitioners.
Partnering strategically with Product, Research, Security, Policy, Comms, Partnerships, and GTM teams to coordinate flawless launches, substantiate claims, generate proof points, enable our teams, and deliver clear customer-facing guidance.
Developing and executing impactful campaigns and activation programs across launches, blogs, webinars, roundtables, executive briefings, conferences, customer proof, and sophisticated account-based motions.
Transforming real-world customer deployments, vulnerability scans, and partner feedback into approved success stories, tangible evidence, powerful ROI narratives, and repeatable industry use cases.
Serving as the essential connective tissue for the entire cyber marketing workstream, ensuring priorities, ownership, launch readiness, open questions, and executive updates are consistently clear and actionable.
Upholding the highest bar for accuracy, governance, customer trust, and responsible marketing within this sensitive and rapidly evolving category.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You:

Possess 7+ years of proven experience in product marketing, industry marketing, cybersecurity marketing, enterprise GTM, or adjacent B2B technology roles.
Have a track record of successfully marketing technical enterprise products to security, developer, IT, risk, or C-suite audiences.
Excel at translating complex model, product, and security concepts into clear positioning, impactful field assets, and compelling customer-facing narratives.
Demonstrate strong cross-functional program leadership instincts and the ability to drive alignment and execution across diverse teams including Product, GTM, Comms, Partnerships, Policy, Security, and Research.
Leverage customer evidence, field intelligence, product usage data, market research, and competitive context to sharpen strategy and prioritize work effectively.
Have experience building GTM programs, establishing operating rhythms, or pioneering new playbooks in ambiguous, high-velocity environments.
Exhibit strong writing, messaging, and editorial judgment, maintaining an exceptionally high bar for clarity, quality, accuracy, and credibility.
Are deeply curious about the convergence of cybersecurity, AI, software development, enterprise adoption, and how cutting-edge capabilities translate into measurable customer value.
Think strategically about how industry marketing drives awareness, builds trust, generates pipeline, accelerates adoption, cultivates customer proof, and secures long-term market leadership.
Are highly collaborative and exceptionally effective at influencing senior stakeholders, field teams, technical teams, and external partners.
Execute quickly and efficiently while consistently maintaining a high quality bar across messaging, launch activities, enablement, customer proof, and campaign execution.

Nice to Have:

Experience in specific cybersecurity domains such as application security, SecOps, cloud security, vulnerability management, detection and response, or secure software development.
Prior experience with AI, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, API platforms, or enterprise software.
Experience supporting enterprise Account-Based Marketing (ABM), executive events, customer stories, partner marketing, or field enablement initiatives.
Familiarity with the perspectives of CISOs, security practitioners, enterprise governance, procurement processes, and high-trust customer environments.
