Enterprise Security Engineer: Shape the Future of Healthcare Security at Jane
Are you a cybersecurity professional driven by impact, eager to build from the ground up, and passionate about protecting sensitive data? At Jane, we're not just building a product; we're empowering healthcare "helpers" worldwide, and our commitment to security is paramount. We're looking for an **Enterprise Security Engineer** to join our rapidly growing team and play a pivotal role in hardening the systems, endpoints, and identities that safeguard our customers' trust and their invaluable health information.
Led by our Senior Cloud Security Engineer, Alexa, our Platform Security function is being built from scratch, and this is one of its foundational roles. You'll work directly with our Staff Enterprise Security Engineer on day-to-day hardening initiatives, and with Alexa to define the strategic direction of our security posture. We seek individuals who view security as a collaborative partnership, not a barrier, and who thrive with real ownership and ample room for professional growth. This role offers both.
If you're energized by demonstrably reducing real-world attack surface, comfortable owning well-scoped projects end-to-end, and excited about leveraging AI and automation to amplify your impact, you belong here. You'll be a key executor on Jane's enterprise hardening roadmap, tackling hands-on work across endpoint security, incident response, identity and access management, and data protection. Success in this role means collaborating seamlessly with IT, Infrastructure Engineering, and the broader Security Engineering team, making security a trusted partner rather than an obstacle. You'll deliver constructive findings, bring teams along, and know when to make critical decisions versus when to escalate to senior engineers.
Leveraging AI and automation isn't just a buzzword here – it's fundamental to how we operate. We lean on these tools to cut toil, sharpen investigations, and accelerate our efforts. You'll be encouraged to experiment, build your own workflows, and openly share what works (and what doesn't) to foster collective team growth and elevate our security capabilities.
Your Impact & Responsibilities
Endpoint Hardening Leader: Strategically own and continuously enhance Jane's endpoint hardening baseline. This includes driving CIS benchmark adoption, ensuring robust EDR coverage and fine-tuning in CrowdStrike Falcon, and managing workstation and mobile vulnerability remediation in close coordination with IT to meet SLA targets.
Incident Response & Preparedness: Take a proactive role in investigating, containing, and thoroughly documenting security incidents. You'll participate in our on-call rotation (approximately 5-6 weeks per year), expertly escalating to the right stakeholders at the right time, and ensuring our runbooks are continuously refined based on real-world experience.
Identity & Access Management Champion: Strengthen our identity and access posture by actively contributing to the rollout of phishing-resistant MFA (FIDO2), implementing Okta device trust and conditional access policies, and establishing a secure BYOD program. You'll partner with IT to maintain a healthy least-privilege posture across all systems.
Data Protection Architect: Help stand up and evolve our data protection controls, including SASE, CASB, DLP, egress filtering, and PHI handling. You'll also define and enforce the critical guardrails governing internal AI usage across various tools, agents, MCP servers, and their associated access controls.
Detection Engineering & Automation: Refine detections and optimize signal-to-noise ratios within our SIEM (Datadog). Proactively build AI-assisted automation workflows that reduce manual toil, openly sharing your successes and lessons learned to uplift the entire team's capabilities.
What We're Looking Fo
Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in enterprise security, infrastructure security, security operations, or incident response, with a clear track record of taking ownership and continuous skill development.
Endpoint & IR Expertise: Proven hands-on experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions (e.g., CrowdStrike Falcon) for triage, investigation, and hardening. Solid understanding of incident response fundamentals and familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
IAM Acumen: Practical knowledge of identity and access management principles, including SSO, MFA, experience with Okta or a similar Identity Provider (IdP), conditional access, and a strong adherence to least-privilege principles.
SIEM & Automation Mindset: Working experience with SIEM platforms (Datadog is a plus) for investigating alerts and effectively distinguishing signal from noise. A consistent habit of building AI or automation workflows to reduce toil and a willingness to share your learnings.
Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional written communication skills and a genuine collaborative spirit that builds trust across IT and engineering teams, fostering strong working relationships. If you don't meet every qualification but are excited about this role, we'd still love to hear from you!
