Your Mission: Make a Global Impact
As a pivotal member of our global intelligence team, you will serve as a Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) Subject Matter Expert. You'll spearhead intricate, in-depth investigations into the clandestine use of cryptoassets by terrorist actors and their facilitation networks. Your critical work will involve validating exposure and attribution confidence, refining workflows, and translating complex findings into precise, actionable intelligence outputs.
Your contributions will directly fortify Elliptic’s industry-leading intelligence dataset and product capabilities. This means empowering our private and public-sector customers to strengthen CTF controls, proactively manage risk, and make defensible decisions. Your insights will not only shape strategic client conversations and impactful research publications but also reinforce Elliptic’s reputation as the trusted authority in the crypto and financial intelligence domain. What You'll Deliver: Key Responsibilities
Lead CTF-focused research and investigations into cryptoasset activity linked to terrorist organizations, facilitators, propaganda and fundraising ecosystems, and operational support networks, including identifying emerging typologies.
Build and maintain a comprehensive, dynamic picture of evolving CTF trends, ensuring Elliptic’s intelligence reflects the full spectrum of terrorist actors and facilitators leveraging crypto.
Navigate and analyze across multiple jurisdictions and designation regimes (e.g., UN, US, UK, EU, and relevant domestic CT frameworks), ensuring our intelligence outputs align with diverse legal definitions, evidentiary expectations, and customer obligations.
Collaborate seamlessly with the global intelligence team to identify and integrate new entities, wallet clusters, and illicit behaviors into Elliptic’s dataset, maintaining its robustness, actionability, and defensibility.
Represent Elliptic’s CTF intelligence capabilities in high-stakes client briefings, training sessions, and industry forums, articulating complex findings with clarity to diverse audiences including compliance teams, regulators, and public-sector partners.
Provide direct intelligence support to public-sector partners, where appropriate, to assist in the disruption of facilitation networks within the digital asset ecosystem.
Your First 6 Months: Achieving Critical Milestones
Contribute significant new entities and wallet clusters to Elliptic's intelligence dataset, profoundly deepening the CTF picture our customers rely on.
Translate investigative findings into scalable outputs such as typologies and robust detection logic, directly strengthening how our customers identify and mitigate terrorist financing risk.
Actively represent Elliptic's CTF expertise with key customers and public-sector partners through impactful briefings, specialized training, or prominent industry forums.

Our Ideal Candidate Brings: Essential Expertise
Extensive experience in intelligence, threat analysis, financial crime, OSINT, or related investigative fields, with a specific focus on illicit or terrorist financing.
Proven track record in a senior or highly autonomous role, demonstrating independent judgment and strategic decision-making capabilities.
A comprehensive understanding of cryptoassets, advanced blockchain analysis techniques, and on-chain tracing tools.
Demonstrated ability to produce clear, evidence-based intelligence reports for both highly technical and non-technical audiences.
Proficiency in using Python, SQL, or AI-assisted querying to expertly extract and analyze blockchain or open-source data.
A strong analytical mindset coupled with excellent judgment, particularly when handling sensitive or uncertain intelligence.
A collaborative and proactive approach, comfortable working effectively across global, interdisciplinary teams.
AI Fluency is essential for this role. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to effectively apply AI tools and approaches relevant to intelligence analysis, including using AI to accelerate research workflows, pattern identification, OSINT processing, and the drafting of written outputs.

A PhD or advanced degree in a relevant field.
Proven, hands-on experience investigating terrorist or sanctioned actors’ use of cryptoassets.
Fluency or working proficiency in multiple languages, especially those relevant to terrorism or illicit finance research.
