Founding Security Engineer, AI/ML Infrastructure
About the Role
Are you a visionary security leader ready to build from the ground up? We're seeking a **Founding Security Engineer** to architect and own our entire security program at a rapidly scaling AI/ML infrastructure company. What You'll Do
Lead our end-to-end detection and incident response, from proactive signal identification and alert generation through meticulous investigation, comprehensive post-mortems, and engineering durable improvements.
Architect, define, and own the holistic security roadmap, encompassing product security, cloud infrastructure, corporate security, incident response, and compliance.
Embed security deep into our APIs, platforms, and data systems by conducting rigorous threat modeling, performing design and code reviews, implementing robust authentication and authorization controls, and perfecting secrets management strategies.
Design, build, and operate advanced monitoring, detection, and incident response capabilities, transforming emerging threats into actionable engineering solutions.
Champion SOC 2 compliance and cultivate unwavering customer trust, managing control design, responding to security questionnaires, overseeing policy management, conducting vendor security reviews, and leading audit processes.
Collaborate strategically with legal, commercial, engineering, and operations teams to translate complex data-license requirements into enforceable technical controls for access, provenance, use, retention, deletion, and auditability.

5+ years of hands-on security engineering expertise, spanning infrastructure security, detection and response, identity management, and related critical domains.
Demonstrated mastery in leading security incidents from initial containment through comprehensive root-cause analysis and driving follow-up engineering remediation.
Extensive experience implementing or operating SOC 2 or comparable security frameworks, with a strong ability to translate regulatory requirements into pragmatic technical controls.
Hands-on experience deploying and operating SIEM and/or XDR tooling for proactive threat detection and security analytics.
Direct experience securing sophisticated AI/ML infrastructure, agent execution environments, critical data platforms, or systems handling untrusted or highly sensitive data.
Proficiency in attack surface management, abuse and fraud detection, and a proven ability to perform solo incident response when needed.
A demonstrated background in building a security program or function from inception, rather than solely operating within an established, large-scale security organization.
Solid experience engaging with legal, auditors, and customers on security questionnaires, policy development, and audit processes.
Exceptional communication skills, capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences across engineering, operations, legal, auditors, and customers. High agency and sound judgment are paramount, especially under uncertainty.
Relevant certifications such as OSCP, AWS Security Specialist, OSWE, CKS, or GIAC. Alternatively, demonstrated expertise through impactful CVEs, contributions to security tooling, or successful bug bounty work.
Offensive security experience (bug bounty, pentesting, or red-team work) is a significant advantage. A background in systems programming or low-level engineering is also highly valued.
