Secure the Future of Data at Atlan: Join Our Remote-First Security Team

At Atlan, we're not just managing data; we're revolutionizing how organizations use it. As the pioneer of active metadata platforms, we transform data chaos into clarity, empowering teams to collaborate seamlessly and unlock the full potential of their data assets.

From Fortune 500 enterprises to innovative startups, across industries like automotive, healthcare, finance, and technology, Atlan is the trusted partner for data-driven success. Recognized by Gartner and Forrester and backed by Insight Partners, we're leading the charge in reimagining the relationship between humans and data.

Ready to be part of a mission-critical team? We're seeking a passionate and experienced Security Engineer to protect our remote-first environment and ensure the security of our customers' data. If you're a cybersecurity professional with a passion for securing cloud infrastructure and enabling secure remote work, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.

Your Mission:
As a key member of our security team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls that protect our globally distributed workforce and critical data assets. Your focus will be on enabling Atlan employees to work effectively and securely while safeguarding customer data and ensuring business continuity.

Remote Infrastructure Security: Architect and maintain robust security controls across our network, systems, and data assets, tailored for our remote-first environment.
Secure Remote Access: Implement and manage secure remote access solutions (VPNs) incorporating multi-factor authentication (MFA) and advanced endpoint protection measures like MDM, ZTNA, SSO, RBAC, and granular access controls.
Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Design and implement DLP strategies and solutions to safeguard sensitive customer and company data across cloud and remote work environments.
AI Security Governance: Establish secure guardrails for internal AI tool usage (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) through DLP controls, activity monitoring, and policy enforcement to protect intellectual property and confidential customer data.
Cloud Security Monitoring: Utilize cloud-native security monitoring tools and techniques (CSPM, WAF, CWPP) to proactively detect and respond to threats within our distributed infrastructure.
Email Security Enhancement: Fortify our email security posture to prevent phishing, malware, and data exfiltration – a critical defense for our remote team.
Compliance and Frameworks: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and frameworks, including ISO 27001, ISO/IEC 42001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
Operational Excellence: Lead investigations and diagnose security incidents with speed and precision, collaborating with engineering teams and vendors to achieve swift resolution. Drive the modernization of our security infrastructure by consolidating systems and addressing technical debt.
Strategic Decision-Making: Evaluate and balance cost, security, compatibility, maintainability, and user experience when making critical security decisions.
Leverage Your Expertise: Utilize your security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent) to enhance and strengthen our overall security posture.

What You'll Bring:
We're looking for a security professional with a strong understanding of remote security challenges and a passion for enabling secure collaboration.

Remote Security Mindset: A deep understanding of the unique security challenges presented by remote-first organizations, with proven experience implementing security controls that protect distributed workforces without compromising productivity. You believe security is a business enabler, not an obstacle.
Zero Trust Architecture: Hands-on experience in designing and implementing security architectures based on Zero Trust principles, essential for securing remote-first environments.
Technical Proficiency: In-depth expertise in network protocols, cloud-based firewall management, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, load balancers, and vulnerability scanners.
Security Tools Mastery: Proven experience with SIEM and SOAR systems, EDR, XDR tools, and data leak prevention (DLP) solutions for securing remote access and collaboration.
Compliance Expertise: Extensive knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and ISO/IEC 42001 (AI management systems), and compliance standards like GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
Automation Skills: Proficient in automating routine tasks and security processes using scripting languages like Python, Bash, Shell, or PowerShell.
Threat Management: Demonstrated ability to perform threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and risk management in remote-first contexts.
Incident Response: Solid experience in incident response, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery.
Leadership Qualities: Excellent leadership and project management skills, a customer-centric approach focused on protecting customer data, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
