Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer: Secure the Core of Bitcoin's Evolution
As a Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer at Alpen Labs, you will take the helm in safeguarding our critical cloud infrastructure, production systems, internal platforms, and operational environments. This is a pivotal role for an expert who possesses deep technical security prowess, a strong sense of ownership, and a pragmatic approach to harmonizing security, reliability, and developer velocity.
You will play an instrumental role in architecting and fortifying Alpen's security posture as we rapidly scale a global, distributed Bitcoin infrastructure platform. Collaborating closely with our infrastructure, platform, and engineering teams, you will be instrumental in designing impenetrable systems, elevating our detection and response capabilities, and seamlessly embedding security throughout every phase of the software and operational lifecycle.
Your Impactful Contributions
Architect and implement robust security controls across our AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
Lead infrastructure hardening initiatives for servers, containers, Kubernetes clusters, and diverse cloud services.
Drive our Identity and Access Management (IAM) programs, including least-privilege access, RBAC, privileged access management (PAM), and sophisticated secrets management.
Own end-to-end vulnerability management processes, spearhead remediation programs, and conduct critical infrastructure security reviews.
Develop and continuously enhance security monitoring, detection engineering, alerting systems, and our incident response capabilities.
Investigate complex security incidents, perform in-depth root-cause analysis, and lead comprehensive response and recovery efforts.
Create and maintain robust incident response playbooks, operational procedures, and detailed security runbooks.
Partner strategically with engineering teams to fortify CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and developer platforms.
Scrutinize infrastructure architecture and operational changes, proactively identifying and mitigating security risks.
Automate critical security controls and seamlessly integrate security tooling into engineering workflows.
Conduct advanced threat modeling and architecture reviews for all infrastructure and platform services.
Provide expert support for endpoint security, device management, vendor security assessments, and various internal security initiatives.
Establish key security metrics, robust reporting, and maintain clear visibility into operational risk across the organization.

What You'll Bring to the Team
Your Core Expertise
7+ years of dedicated experience in infrastructure security, security engineering, security operations, or closely related fields.
Profound expertise in securing complex cloud environments, with a strong focus on AWS.
Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Linux systems administration and security best practices.
Extensive practical experience with Kubernetes, containers, and modern cloud-native infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience with SIEM, EDR, comprehensive logging, monitoring, and cutting-edge incident response tooling.
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and advanced network security principles.
Proven track record of implementing robust IAM, RBAC, secrets management, and privileged access controls.
Experience securing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) environments.
Exceptional scripting or programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, Bash, Rust, or similar.
A history of leading significant security initiatives within fast-paced production environments.
An Edge If You Possess (Bonus Points!)
Experience supporting highly sensitive blockchain, fintech, or financial infrastructure environments.
Direct experience securing Bitcoin, Layer 2, or complex distributed systems infrastructure.
Familiarity with Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, or similar infrastructure-as-code automation tooling.
Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable security and compliance frameworks.
In-depth knowledge of zero-trust architectures and modern, cutting-edge cloud security practices.
Experience with proactive threat hunting, detection engineering, and leveraging threat intelligence programs.
